Coordinator, Online Learning and Innovation

Highland Community College is seeking a skilled and motivated Coordinator, Online Learning and Innovation to advance the quality of online instruction and instructional technology across the institution. This full-time position is integral to supporting strategic goals by enhancing academic quality and innovation through the development and promotion of effective instructional design, faculty support, and academic technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops on effective teaching strategies and quality course design.
  • Develop and maintain instructional resources that ensure course accessibility and student learning assessment.
  • Support the design, development, and evaluation of Moodle course templates and learning materials.
  • Provide instructional design services, including course builds, revisions, and multimedia creation.
  • Consult with faculty and staff to enhance online content accessibility and effectiveness.
  • Support program review, assessment, and universal design training efforts.
  • Collaborate across departments to plan and assess instructional technology needs.
  • Serve as the College’s subject matter expert in academic technologies.
  • Participate in state and national initiatives related to online education.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accessibility standards.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, or related field.
  • Three to five years of higher education teaching experience (community college preferred).
  • Experience in instructional design and educational technology.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Skills and Knowledge:
  • Expertise in instructional design principles, learning theories, and multimedia content creation.
  • Proficiency in academic learning systems and software applications (e.g., Moodle).
  • Strong communication, project management, and training facilitation skills.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and compliance (including SARA and ADA guidelines).
  • Ability to build relationships and support a diverse campus community.
  • Certification as a Quality Matters Higher Education Peer Reviewer (required within one year of employment).
