FULL-TIME THIRD SHIFT CUSTODIAN
Highland Community College is seeking a Custodian to join our Facilities team. This full-time position ensures that college facilities are clean, sanitary, and safe for students, staff, and visitors. Hours are Monday through Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. If you have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and secure environment, we encourage you to apply!
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of all types of floor surfaces, including operation of power-driven floor stripping, waxing, and polishing machines.
- Maintain assigned areas, ensuring they are clean, safe, and ready for daily use.
- Report problems or defects to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow safe work practices, including proper lifting techniques, and ensure all work areas are left clean after projects.
- Keep outside areas free of litter and debris.
- Support security efforts, including conducting patrols, inspecting buildings for safety issues, reporting unsafe conditions, and responding to security calls.
- Remove snow from campus grounds as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior cleaning or custodial experience is preferred.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision required.
- Ability to read and write instructions required.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds regularly and work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and exposure to chemicals.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Must complete a successful criminal background check.

Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.25 per hour with a $.35 per hour shift differential
